Creepy Hollows Haunted Houses

Haunted Houses - University of Alabama

UA Library

Why did we rate this "Confirmed"? Because multiple sources off the internet sites have experienced paranormal activity at this location & therefore warrants a rating of "Confirmed".

What's the tale? It is said to be haunted by the spirits of civil war soldiers, both Union and Confederate. A Union soldier who was captured, tortured and murdered within the walls of the University is the most energetic of the lot. It is also said to be haunted by a man who hung himself in the University and the founder of the University library, Amelia Gorgas, who couldn't stop her work even after her death. A walk on the grounds of the University proves to be an enlightening experience.

What do we know as fact? The University takes the haunted tales with some respect as seen in this article on their website here. The Gorgas family did found the campus library, different parts of the University have been occupied by Union & Confederate soldiers for different reasons.

Thoughts This article on the campus website states a few different haunted tales related to the University, none match to the tales mentioned above. Another tale cited here tells the tale of a girl named LaDonna who was supposedly murdered with an axe by her father in what became a fraternity house and supposedly this ghost has followed them to every fraternity location since the original house. These are just a few instances of the many, many stories associated with the University & its surrounding buildings.

While it is entirely true the University as a whole has paranormal activity what is unlikely is that all of the stories have merit or truth to them.
